Seagrass
is possibly the best known of the natural floorings; hard wearing with
a unique appearance made by flooding
the plant with seawater before
harvesting. The matting has a relatively open weave due to the variable
fiber gauge and
has the most "slubs" or irregularities with variations
in its natural shading compared to all the natural floorings.
Seagrass
can be recognized by it's grassy, hay-like scent and coloring which
dissipates with time. Colors range from
sage green hues to olive.
Seagrass rugs have a non-porous surface that gives it a naturally
smooth texture and sheen.
Its rigidity gives it a natural durability.
it vacuums well and is low in absorbency making it suitable for use as commercial
and home floorings.
