'Jute' is the best of the coarser baste fibers
grown particularly in India.
The fiber is obtained from the stems
(secondary phloem) of the genus chorchorus, which belongs to the family
'Tiliaceae'.
The Jute plant, which reaches over three meters in height, typically
grows in sandy soil and sub-tropical climate. The stalks are
gathered
by hand and are then softened in water - like Coir husks. The fiber is
then stripped away, by hand.
The spinning of Jute yarn is mainly
fully mechanized; this gives a very uniform quality of yarn with vastly
improved bleaching, dyeing and finishing process.
The Jute rug is soft and best when used like
carpets & floor coverings.

Jute Rugs, Matting & Bags
Mats
and rugs made of jute provide the natural alternative to bulky and
expensive carpets. Jute mats
have a soft feel and are light in weight. Good technique ensures less
shedding of fiber and makes them ideal for interior decoration.
Jute
Bags provide a natural and ecological solution vis-a-vis
synthetic bags.
